  Problems Accessing Online Banking?

If you are experiencing problems with It's Me 247 Online Banking, please check to see if your computer is using Internet Explorer 5 or 6 (IE5 or IE6). A recent bulletin from Microsoft has alerted us that Internet Explorer versions 5 and 6 are no longer supported by Microsoft, and that these browsers can no longer be considered secure.

Microsoft offers two new browser versions – IE7 and IE8 – and both are free.  IE Version 9 is also available in beta-test mode – however, we are not encouraging our members to upgrade to this version yet.

Other supported web browsers include Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari.  For links to download the new browsers, please click here:

Be an Owner!

Although the Credit Union offers similar services as a bank, the Credit Union is not a bank.  The Credit Union is composed of members that take part in a not-for-profit, full service financial cooperative that shares its successes with its members.  This cooperative structure enables DEFCU to distribute profits to the membership in the form of:

bullet Higher dividends on savings
bullet Lower interest rates on loans
bullet Low or no fees for services
bullet State-of-the-art technology

Members are the owners of the Credit Union and each have an equal voice. Economic democracy is practiced at the Credit Union by you, the member, voting annually for the Board of Directors. Everyone has a voice.  The credit union idea of self-help monetary services was created in the mid-19th century and in 1909 the first U.S. credit union was established. Today, almost 85 million Americans are credit union members. So, when you say, "DEFCU is my credit union", you really mean it!

Phishing Alert – Email Claiming to be From NACHA

NACHA Phishing Alert:
Email Claiming to be From NACHA Reported

NACHA – The Electronic Payments Association has received reports that individuals and/or companies have received a fraudulent e-mail that has the appearance of having been sent from NACHA. The attacks are occurring with greater frequency and increased sophistication. Perpetrators may also be exploiting email addresses recently stolen from Epsilon.

The fraudulent emails typically make reference to an ACH transfer, payment or transaction and contain a link or attachment that infects the computer with malicious code when clicked on by the email recipient. The contents of the fraudulent emails vary with more recent examples including a counterfeit NACHA logo and the citation of NACHA's physical mailing address and telephone number. Do not click on the link or attachment as it is fraudulent. See sample below.

Be aware that phishing e-mails frequently have links to Web pages that host malicious code and software. Do not open attachments or follow Web links in unsolicited e-mails from unknown parties or from parties with whom you do not normally communicate, or that appear to be known but are suspicious or otherwise unusual.

NACHA itself does not process nor touch the ACH transactions that flow to and from organizations and financial institutions. NACHA does not send communications to persons or organizations about individual ACH transactions that they originate or receive.

If malicious code is detected or suspected on a computer, consult with a computer security or anti-virus specialist to remove malicious code or re-install a clean image of the computer system. Always use anti-virus software and ensure that the virus signatures are automatically updated. Ensure that the computer operating systems and common software applications security patches are installed and current.

Be alert for different variations of fraudulent e-mails.
